Type, origin and dates
Document type
The one field on the edit form that the analysis reads back. A document filed as a deposition is read as one.
Pleading · Email · HR complaint · Performance review · Text message · Termination letter · Deposition · Medical record · Expert report · Contract · Correspondence · Notes · Other
Untyped documents show as Not yet typed.
Origin
Where the document came from, which is a different question from who uploaded it.
Our client · Opposing party · Third party · Court · Public record · Our work · AI generated
Separately, the detail sheet records how it arrived — direct upload, email, an integration, a scan, or AI generated — one row per arrival.
Document date
The date the document is about, not the day it was filed.
A 2023 medical record uploaded this morning is a 2023 document. The list sorts on this, the chronology is built from it, and the analysis reasons about it. Leave it empty if the document genuinely carries no date.
Where the extractor could not read the date confidently, the document is flagged date unclear and appears under that filter. Editing it and saving records your answer as the settled one.
Sorting and filtering on dates
The documents toolbar switches between sorting by document date and by date filed, and offers all time, last 30 days, last 90 days and last 12 months windows against whichever you picked.
The side rail filters by type, origin, sensitivity and status — including Date unclear and Could not be read.
Editing
Edit document from the row menu or the detail sheet. It covers the title, the document date, the type, the origin and the sensitivity flags.
Titles and dates are facts about one document, so they are not offered in the bulk editor. Type, origin and sensitivity are.
