How the analysis works
An analysis run reads the matter’s documents and writes a numbered version. Scores, developments, gaps, contradictions, actions and the memo all hang off that version. Nothing is overwritten: v4 does not erase v3, and the current analysis is simply the newest successful run.
Starting one
The first analysis runs as soon as a document has been read. After that:
Automatically, when the file changes in a way that matters — a document added, replaced or withdrawn; a deposition added; discovery received; damages evidence added; a witness added; a ruling entered; a deadline changed; an attorney recorded a fact; the claims changed; a recommended action completed; the phase changed.
By hand, with Analyse / Re-analyse on the Analysis tab.
Attorneys, paralegals and firm owners can run an analysis. Only an attorney can approve its output.
The nine stages
A run works through the file in order. Each stage writes its own row, and you can watch them land one at a time.
| Stage | What it does |
|---|---|
| Knowledge base | The same party, spelled four ways, resolved. Parties, facts, timeline events and the evidence list every later stage cites into. |
| Case summary | States the matter neutrally. |
| Research checklist | The questions this matter raises. |
| Analogous precedents | Decisions that resemble this one. |
| Legal research | Authority for the questions asked. |
| Theory and damages | The theory, the damages model, the defences to expect. |
| Scoring | Prices the judgement already made. |
| Memo | The prose an attorney reads first. |
| Developments | What changed, and what to do about it. |
Grouped into five phases on the run review screen: ingest, frame and retrieve, structure, score and decide, compose and commit.
Citations, not quotations
Stages cite an index into the evidence list, never a quote they composed. The index resolves back to the fact, the document and the page.
This is the point: the worst a model can do is cite the wrong index, which points at a real passage that visibly does not support the claim. It cannot invent a passage that does not exist.
Every citation in the product shows the document and the page — p. 14 — and clicking it opens the document there.
Stage states
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Queued | Not started. |
| Running | In progress. |
| Complete | Succeeded. |
| Carried forward | Nothing it depends on changed, so the previous run’s result was reused. |
| Skipped | It could be skipped, and it was. |
| Failed | It did not finish. |
Some stages are required: if one fails, the run ends there. The rest are skippable: the run carries on without them and the step records why. A run where that happened is Partly complete.
Run states
Queued · Running · Complete · Partly complete · Failed · No change — the run finished and found nothing that moved the matter.
Full and incremental runs
A run is either full or incremental. An incremental run reuses what has not changed and re-does what has, which is why a stage can show as carried forward from run 6.
Nothing to analyse
If every document on the matter is privileged, work product, withdrawn or has no file behind it, there is nothing the analysis may read and it will say so rather than produce an empty run. See What the analysis reads.
Reviewing what it produced
Every finding carries the same set of decisions: Approve, Reject, and under More — mark as incorrect, mark as privileged, suppress. A rejected finding is not raised again.
Only an attorney with a bar number on file can approve AI output. That authority is derived from the licence recorded on the account, not granted by an administrator.
